GCACA GOLF GUIDELINES

  1. The GCAC will sponsor Varsity and Junior Varsity levels. (9/12)
  1. Each school will schedule six (6) GCAC opponents. As other members add Golf, they will be added to schedules as well.  The post-season tournament will rotate between locations in the north and south of Chicagoland.
  1. Eight (8) golfers are allowed to participate in a dual. In the case of a triangular, at least six (6) (but no more than eight (8)) golfers will participate depending on course availability.  Individuals from schools not fielding a team may enter the Conference tournament per the IHSA regulations.
  1. The four (4) low scores will count toward recording a team total. In the case of a tie, the fifth score will be counted to determine the winner.  The Conference tournament will be an eighteen-hole event.  Where inclement weather becomes a factor, a nine-hole format must be adopted. In the case of a tie for the individual champion, there will be a sudden death play-off held beginning at the 18th hole going backwards to determine a champion.  A school must have scheduled at least six (6) GCAC matches during the regular season to participate in the post-season Conference tournament.  Six (6) individual awards will be given to the 1st and 2nd place teams.  Individual awards will be given to the top fifteen golfers.  The top fifteen (15) finishers will be named to the All-Conference team.  This number may be adjusted if fewer teams participated than expected.  (6/15)
  1. Each school will be responsible for its own fees unless the host team has agreed to incur the expense. Each school will be obligated to pay their expenses for the tournament championship.
  1. No golfer may participate in both the Junior Varsity and Varsity divisions of the championship in the same year.

  1. There will be one Athlete of the Year Award given to the individual medalist of the Varsity Tournament. (9/05)
