SPORTS COORDINATORS’ CHECKLIST

PRE-SEASON

  1. Prior to the start of the season, send all pertinent information regarding the sport such as divisions, tournament dates and information, awards, tie-breaking procedures, end of season meeting date and times, etc.  All of this can be found on the conference website and calendar.
  2. Communicate with the conference assignor about reserving officials for the dates of the tournament(s). Refer to the conference directory for contact information for assignors.

  3. Emphasize the importance of playing all teams in the division prior to the end of the season meeting. For outdoor sports, this may require bumping non-conference opponents to ensure all conference games are played in time.

  4. Remind athletic directors and coaches about filling out sportsmanship forms and turning them in at the post-season meeting.

POST-SEASON

  1. Approximately one week before the post season meeting, send a reminder to the athletic directors.  Send details of the tournament for review to all conference officers for approval.

  2. Remind coaches from host schools about officials’ fees and financial report forms which must be turned in to the conference treasurer within two weeks of the last tournament game hosted.

  3. Select All Conference Athletes according to conference guidelines. Each coach should provide statistics for each player. Make sure all names are spelled correctly and identified with the correct schools.  Send a copy to the athletic directors, conference president and to Frankie Castagna at DeLaSalle.  Nominations for athletes of the year must follow GCAC guidelines for selections.

  4. Provide updated brackets for tournaments after each round to conference athletic directors, officers and to the assignor listing new dates and times.

  5. Send all final results to all participating schools and to conference officers. Please be sure to include any officers who are not current athletic directors.
